[1906].  [iv], 112, [4]pp, with 44 pen and ink full page sketch drawings.  Red cloth boards with gilt lettering and decoration front and spine. Bevelled edges.  Landscape 8vo.  Cloth is heavily worn and rubbed, marked and indented, fraying at spine ends.  Text block edges soft and tanned.  Free endpapers heavily tanned and spotted., some spotting on first and last few pages, ‘Cranbrook, Kent’ neatly inked on the front paste down, else internally a little dull but clean and neat.  Very slightly skewed.  

Esam maps out the development of domestic architecture in Kent, focussing heavily on the unique regional styles of medieval manor houses, traditional Wealden houses and local large farmhouses.  His text is accompanied by 44 sketches of houses including Knole House, Cobham Hall, Glassenbury Park House, Hawkhurst Place, Cloth Halls in Biddenden and Cranbrook, Filston Manor, Birchley Farn, Babbs Farm, Knowle House, Mount Ephraim House, Nettlestead Court, Penshurst Place, Stone Pits Grange, Synyards and many more.
