Tall folio. In paper covered boards. Tall folio. Boards heavily rubbed, chipped away, at edges. Front board almost completely detached, rear board detached, backstrip absents, boards very worn, a few marks, etc. Previous owner’s name inked onto front pastedown, also a previous bookseller’s ticket. Pages a little soiled on edges, light spotting throughout and occasional marks and smudges etc. Two tissue guards absent, one detached. Edmund Lodge was a late 18th century/early 19th century antiquarian who devoted much of his career and interest to the study of heraldry and related topics, producing several works on the topic and contributing to others. He latterly became Herald of Arms in Ordinary, Norroy King of Arms at Clarenceux King of Arms, effectively second in command at the college. This is one of his rarer works, warrants and suitable for rebinding/restoration.
