Book club edition. 256pp, with several sections of monochrome plate illustrations and maps etc in text.  Blue cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering to spine.  8vo.  Cloth very slightly pushed in a spine tips else volume is bright, crisp, clean and tight throughout.  In its original dust wrapper, slightly shelf worn and lightly bumped on extreme edges.  

The legendry, likely fictional island of Atlantis was first described by the Ancient Greek philosopher, Plato around 350 BC as a great naval power which sunk beneath the seas after falling out of favour with the Gods.
