Complete in ten volumes (volume VI being issued in two parts, so eleven books in the set).  All volumes uniformly bound in black cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on red relief on the spine.  8vos.  All volumes are in near fine condition, being neat, clean, bright and tight throughout.  All in their original dust wrappers, very slightly shelf worn and gently bumped on extreme edges in places.

The Cambridge History of Latin America is a series, edited by Leslie Bethell, published between 1985 and 2008.  Contributors include David Brading, James Lockhart, Murdo J MacLeod, Jean Meyer, John Hemming, Miguel Leon-Portilla and others.  While each volume can be considered classic works on the period they cover, together the set amounts to an important and scholarly academic reference and source of study on Latin American history from the colonial period to the latter part of the 20th century. Some consider an eleventh volume (12th book) – a series of biographical essays – to be part of the set: this volume is not included here.  The volumes in this set are:

  • Volume I: Colonial Latin America (1985)
  • Volume II: Colonial Latin America (1985)
  • Volume III: From Independence to c. 1870 (1985)
  • Volume IV: c. 1870 to 1930 (1986)
  • Volume V: c. 1870 to 1930 (1986)
  • Volume VI, Part I: Latin America Since 1930: Part 1: Economy and Society (1995)
  • Volume VI, Part II: Latin America Since 1930: Part 2: Politics and Society (1995)
  • Volume VII: Latin America Since 1930: Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean (1990)
  • Volume VIII: Latin America Since 1930: Spanish South America (1991)
  • Volume IX: Brazil Since 1930 (2008)
  • Volume X: Latin America Since 1930: Ideas, Culture and Society (1995)

A large and heavy set (packed weight circa 14kg) which will likely incur an additional charge for overseas delivery.
