Stories from the Russian Operas

[1922].  x, 238pp, with colour plate frontispiece and eight further monochrome plate illustrations interleaved in text. Red cloth-covered boards with black lettering and decorations front and spine.  8vo.  Cloth is rubbed and rounded at corners and spine ends, dull and a little soiled, short creased on a flattened backstrip.  Text block edges a little toned.  Lacks front free endpaper else internally neat, clean and tight.  In its original paper dust wrapper with pictorial onlay, rubbed and stained around spine, chapped all round edges, chipped and rubbed on corners.

Despite its faults, a rather attractively evocative volume containing the stories of Russian operas including Prince Igor; The Stone Guest; Aleko; A Night in May; Mozart and Salieri; The Demon and several others.
