58pp stapled booklet, illustrated with monochrome ‘then and now’ pictures, in stiff card covers.  8vo.  A little gentle edge wear to card covers else neat, clean, bright and tight throughout.

A history of the parish church, St Mary’s, in Welwyn, Hertfordshire.  The village is often referred to as Old Welwyn, or Welwyn Village.  The Massacre of St Bride’s Day in 1002, when the Anglo-Saxons turned on their newly arrived Danish neighbours, is said to have started near Welwyn. A Norman church replaced the Saxon Church towards the ends of the 12th century; the current building largely dates from the 13th century.
