Bryan Gould was the Labour MP for Dagenham and a fellow at Oxford University.  In this volume he argues for a new theory of socialism as the only means compatible with and a guarantor of individual freedoms and rights and, in his sections on equality, offers an extensive commentary of John Rawls’ non-socialist critique of the balance between freedom, justice and equality.
