First US edition, first printing.  2140pp.  Quarter bound in brown cloth over brown paper-covered boards, gilt lettering on the spine.  8vo.  Cloth a little bruised at spine ends.  Upper text block edge slightly dust dulled.  Previous owner’s blind embossed stamp on the front free endpaper else volume neat, clean, bright and tight.  In its original dust wrapper, not price clipped, a little rubbed on edges and joints, slightly sunned over spine and short closed tear from the upper edge of rear panel which has some visible shelf wear, but largely crisp and bright.  Dust wrapper now protected in an archival-quality Mylar sleeve, fitted without the use of tape or adhesives.
