First edition, first impression.  238pp, with black and white plate illustrations and a few further drawings in text.  Red cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on spine, gilt decorations front and spine.  8vo.  Cloth a little pushed a spine ends.  Hint of toning on text block edges.  Previous owner’s bookplate on front paste down; newspaper clipping (relating to Roman Medicine) pasted to front free endpaper, alongside another previous owner’s name in ink, else internally neat, clean and tight.  In its original dust wrapper, lightly bumped on edges, slightly shelf worn.
