In blue cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering (faded around spine and edges; a little rubbed and rounded at corners and spine ends). The front free endpaper has been roughly corner-clipped, the rear free endpaper is bruised and a little creased on edge, endpapers lightly spotted, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. The story of Queen Elizabeth up to 1951; first published in serial form in 1951 in Women’s Own magazine under the title Princess Elizabeth – the Woman. Crawford was governess to the young Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret, who called her Crawfie. After writing her books, which the Royal Family saw as a betrayal of trust, she was ostracised from the Royal family and left her grace and favour residence, Nottingham Cottage. No member of the Royal Family ever spoke to her again. Small 4to.
