Full Title:” Proceedings Under the Special Commission at York Before Baron Thompson and Mr Justice Le Blanc,, which Commenced on Saturday the Second of January 1813 and Closed on Tuesday the Twelfth of the Same Month for the Trail of Offences Connected with the Late Disturbances in the West Riding of This County”. Recounts the Commission and trial of West Yorkshire workers who had risen up against mill owners, following a change in the law to make it a capital offence to destroy weaving frames. Includes account of the murder of local mill owner, William Horsfall in 1812 and the subsequent hanging of Luddites. Over 60 men were tried. The outcomes of the represented victory over the Luddites and had far-reaching consequences for mill workers and the working classes.
