xii, 412p, xvii pp.  Tan publisher’s cloth-covered boards, brown lettering front and spine.  Deckled edges.  8vo.  Cloth is a bit grubby, gently rounded at corners and ends of a sunned spine.  Some toning on text block edges and lightly on endpapers.  Previous owner’s bookplate on front paste down else internally neat and clean.  

Biography of Moussorgsky (Mussorgsky) (1839-1881), the Russian composer and of a group known as ‘The Five’ who worked together to form a distinctive Russian style for classical music.  An innovator, he was often at odds with established conventions of Western music.
