Undated [1897], First edition, first impression. 48pp. most having a large drawing and short verse. Buff cloth spine with pictorial paper-covered boards. Landscape 8vo. Boards a little soiled and grubby, lightly rubbed at at edges with rounded corners. Internally some page aging else clean, neat and tight, with a stamp on the front free endpaper stating ‘with the publisher’s compliments’. Blackwood’s amusing pen and ink sketches are delightful – the Indian elephant reading in particular. Uncommon is early editions and scarce in this ‘good’ condition. Volume now protected in a Mylar-sleeve fitted without the use of tape or adhesives.
