Internally, a hint of creaminess to pages, with the occasional small mark but generally neat, clean and tight. 12 issues of the monthly journal Modern Languages, issued between May 1890 and April 1891 (the journal was formerly known as Hughes’s French and German Journal). Each issue contains a series of notes and articles, mostly in English but occasionally in French and German or another European language, on pronunciation, language developments, vocabulary, translation tips, etc, with a number of exercises etc. Very hard to find.
