First edition, second printing.  xii, 436pp, with black and white illustrations.  Black publisher’s cloth-covered boards, gilt-stamped lettering on the spine.  Illustrated grey endpapers.  4to.  Cloth very slightly rounded on lower corners and spine tips else neat, clean, bright and tight.  Dust wrapper a little bumped on extreme edges, slightly rubbed on corners.

Oliver Eugene Messiaen was a French composer and organist.  A major 20th century composer, he was also know as a talented teacher of musical composition and analysis.
