Cloth is tired, a little faded and marked, gently rounded at corners and spine ends. Text block edges a little dusty with mild stain on fore edge. Previous owner’s dated name inked on the front free endpaper, small mark on edge of title page, else internally neat. clean and tight. In its original worn and faded dust wrappper, a little chipped on edges and rubbed at corners and around a sunned and flattened spine.
Dostoevsky’s Letters from the Underground was first published in Russian in 1864. Unusually, the first English translation was published by J M Dent in the Everyman’s Library series in 1913 (this copy is a later reprint). This edition also contains his 1867 story, Gentle Maiden and his 1847 novella A Landlady.
