Lenin’s essay on Left-wing Communism was originally written in the spring of 1920 and published as a pamphlet shortly afterwards, first in Russian in June 1920 and the following month in English, French and German. The text of this 1970 edition is taken from that pamphlet, to which Lenin had given personal attention to the typesetting and printing, and checked against the original manuscript. The Novosti Press Agency was, from the late 1950s through to the 1980s, the leading information and press body of the Soviet State.
