The volumes 28 to 34 of the monumental, scholarly Collected Works of Karl Marx and Frederick Engels. All volumes bound in deep red cloth with gilt lettering front and spine. 8vos. Cloth on all volumes is bright and clean, with sharp corners and just a hit on rounding on some spine bases. Some text block edges show a hint of dustiness or a little faint toning. Internally all volumes are neat, clean, bright and tight. All in their original glossy dust wrappers, a little shelf worn and sometimes just a tad bumped or rubbed on extreme edges or spine tips; some are price clipped while others are not; and some have a little sunning to backstrips. These volumes were issued one at time over a period of years and there are minor natural variations in the shade of cloth, dust wrappers and paper.
The Marx Engels Collected Works (known as MECW), prepared by Lawrence and Wishart in collaboration with Progress Publishers in Moscow and issued in 50 volumes between 1975 and 2004, was and remains the largest collection of English translations of works by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, containing publications by Marx and Engels released during their lifetimes, many previously unpublished manuscripts of Marx’s economic writings, and much personal correspondence. The collection was organised into three parts: volumes 1 to 27 collect the political, philosophical and historical writings and journalism of Marx and Engels; volumes 28-37 deal with Marx’s writings on political economy while the final 12 volumes collect the letters and personal correspondence of both. Offered here are the first seven volumes of the second tranche.
