16pp stapled pamphlet, illustrated with occasional cartoons. Iin paper covers. Covers a little rubbed, and evenly toned, tiny chip on leading edge. Internally, slightly age toned, else neat and tidy. Aimed at troops and officers, this 1945 pamphlet seeks to ‘show what sort of man the Jap is both at home and at war’. A rare survival of a war time pamphlet, infused with a blend of contemporary understanding of Japanese culture and propaganda. Much of the tone and language in the pamphlet would likely be considered inappropriate and offensive today. Issued by the Army Bureau of Current Affairs, an organisation of the British Army established to educate and raise morale among servicemen and women during the Second World War. Churchill was not a fan of the organisation, or its publications, judging it to be waste of military resources.
