First edition, first impression.  256pp, with black and white plate illustrations.  Red cloth-covered boards, gilt lettering on the spine.  8vo.  Cloth is heavily worn, marked, rubbed at edges and rounded spine, rounded at corners and spine ends.  Text block edges dull and darkened.  Some occasional spotting throughout.  Some pages have minor damage at edges, one or two are creased, with the odd strained gutter, one leaf partially loose.

Not a pretty copy but a good reading/reference source.  Henry Chance Newton (1854-1931) was a British writer, and theatre critic, often writing under the pen names Carados or Gawain.
