First edition, first impression.  118, [12]pp, with black and white plate frontispiece, further plate illustrations interleaved in text and occasional line drawings in text.  Green cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on the spine.  Cloth a little pushed in at spine ends else neat, clean, bright and tight throughout.  In its original, a little shelf worn and marked, dust wrapper, bumped and toned on edges, slightly rubbed on corners.  Dust jacket now protected in an archival quality Mylar wrapper fitted without the use of tape or adhesives.

By legend a weird and warped mythical figure associated with Windsor Forest and Great Park, Herne the Hunter is said to have antlers, to ride a horse, torment cattle and rattle chains.  The earliest recorded reference comes in Shakespeare’s Merry Wives of Windsor.  Scarce title.
