A scarce surviving publication from the Institut Fur Deutsche Ostarbeit (IDO). The IDO was a Nazi institution founded for ‘eastern research’ in occupied Poland in 1940. Set up on the premises of the former Jagiellonian University, it was intended to enhance and continue German research in the East, dedicated to East European Studies which aimed to justify Germany’s claim to territory and people, a policy which resulted in one-sided studies of Germanness and negative or anti-semitic articles regarding the Polish people and Jews. It collaborated with other Nazi institutions in other actions later held to be crimes, including the Racial and Ethnic Research Section and SS agencies.
