First edition, first impression.  480pp, with colour plate frontispiece and 14 further colour plates (botanical), and many line drawings in text.  Green publisher’s cloth-covered boards, gilt-stamped lettering on the spine.  Cloth a little rubbed and rounded at corners and spine ends.  Front hinge cracked, loosening front board. Text block edges a little toned.  Paper scars and stamps on front paste down else internally neat and clean, a little toning.  Text block tight.

A vintage gardening book, where the real delight is the fifteen botanical plate illustrations alongside an old-fashioned approach to tending common garden flowers.
