First English language edition, first printing.  128pp, profusely illustrated in full colour.  Grey cloth-covered boards with  gilt motif on upper panel and gilt lettering to spine.  Folio,  Volume is neat, clean, bright and tight throughout.  In its original glossy dust wrapper, very lightly bumped on extreme edges and a little compression around spine.

Leger was primarily a painter of modern life – macbhines, billboards, mathematical forms and urban man were both his inspiration and subject matter.  Strongly influenced by the principles and forms of Cubism (particularly Cezanne), and his experiences on the front during the First World War, the resulting paintings are bold, daring and humane.
