This little booklet, produced to accompany a forthcoming series of afternoon cookery programmes on the BBC was the second publication from the now renown celebrity chef Delian Smith. Now very hard to find, it is the first of three ‘family fare’ booklets she wrote in the 1970s. In what was to become Smith’s iconic style, not only does it contain some imaginative but not too challenging recipes, it also has a focus on basic and adaptable cooking and kitchen techniques. “Family Fare” followed her first book in 1971, “How to Cheat at Cookery” and preceded her second major book, “Recipes from Country Inns and Restaurants” by several months.
