Third edition. Undated but circa 1915. 192pp, with numerous small line drawings in text. Blue cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on front and spine. Cloth a little tired, a little rounded on corners and at ends of sunned spine. Slightly skewed. Endpapers slightly spotted. Previous owner’s name neatly inked on the front free endpaper. A little rounding to the lower leading corner and the first few leaves bear the impression of a paper clip (no rusting) else internally neat, clean and tight.
The title of this collection of verse is a clever play on Rudyard Kipling’s Departmental Ditties, but Graham turns is comic eye on upper class etiquette in England rather than on the Raj in India. The black and white line drawings are distinctive, witty and charming, all from the pen of Punch cartoonist Lewis Baumer.
