First edition.  320pp.  Pink publisher’s cloth-covered boards, gilt-stamped lettering on the spine.  8vo.  Cloth a little worn, gently rounded at corners and spine ends.  Text block edges dusty.  Previous owner’s neat inscription inked on front free endpaper.  Endpapers have faint toning else internally neat, clean, bright and tight.  In its original worn dust wrapper, rubbed and a little chipped at edges, sunned over spine, with a tape repair at spine head.

In this second volume of an innkeeper’s memoirs, Mr Fothergill leaves The Spreadeagle in Thame for ever as he takes on an Ascot hotel and then moves on to his own venture, The Three Swans in Market Harborough.
