Card portfolio containing seven large stapled booklets regarding trains and carriages and developments of the Railway Company of Paris to Lyon and the Mediterranean, produced for the Paris Colonial Exhibition in 1931. Each booklet contains technical specifications and descriptions of the trains and carriages as well as a large fold-out technical plan. Approximately 12 by 8.5 inches. The card portfolio is worn, rubbed at edges and tanned, spotted especially on interior. The booklets inside are neat, clean, bright and tight throughout barring a little rubbing along spines and minor soiling along top edges. The booklets are: Cadres a Panneaux Demontables Pour Transport de Primeurs; Voiture a Bogies a Intercirculation avec Compartiments de Luxe L2S6yfi; Installation de Manutention Mecanique des Combustibles et des Scories; Locomotive a Voyageurs Type ‘Mountain’ Compound, a quatre Cylinders, pour Trains Rapides, Serie 241.C; Voiture a Bogies at Intercirculation avec Compartiments de 1re Classe Transformables en Couchettes A5c5yfi; Voitures a Bogies a Intercirculation avec Lits-salons, Compartiments a Couchettes et de 1re Classe A3c2L3g3yfi; and Locomotive-tender Compound, a quatre Cylindres et a quatre Essieux Accouples, Serie 242.BT. The Paris Colonial International Exhibition was a six-month long exhibition displaying the diverse cultures and resources of France and its colonies. Opening in May 1931 at the Bois de Vincennes on the eastern outskirts of the city, it was an enormous affair attracting some 7 to 9 million visitors.
