Clausewitz: Philosopher of War

First edition, first impression.  xii, 418pp.  Red cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering to spine.  8vo.  Dustiness on text block edges.  A ‘D’ has been crayoned on the rear paste down, and the front paste down has a small printed label indicating the book was declared damaged stock (but the damage in question is not apparent).  Else neat, clean, bright and tight.  In its original dust jacket, not price clipped, shelf worn, sunned over spine, with scattered minor indentations, one of which is deeper.  

A major re-examination of Carl von Clausewitz (1780-1831), the Prussian Army Officer also known as ‘the genius of war’: Clausewitz stressed the moral and political aspects of waging war.  His most significant written work, Vom Kriege (On War) was unfinished when he lost his life to cholera in 1831. His widow edited and published his work, a year later.
