First edition, first impression.  xiv, 338pp, with monochrome portrait plate frontispiece, further black and white illustrations and genealogical table. Red cloth-covered boards with silver motif on upper panel and silver lettering on black relief on spine.  8vo.  Cloth lightly rubbed at spine tips and corners.  Upper text block edge dust darkened.  Internally neat, clean, bright and tight.   In its original illustrated dust wrapper, rubbed on corners, spine tips and around edges, a tad faded, especially over spine, shelf worn, price clipped.  Dust jacket now protected in a clear plastic film.
