First thus, first printing (first printing in the New Oxford Illustrated Dickens series). 402pp, plus sixty five full page black and white illustrations. Russet cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering to spine. Upper text block edge sprayed russet. 12mo. Cloth is a little tired, gently rubbed at corners and spine ends. Some spotting and dustiness to unsprayed edges. Previous owner’s name neatly inked on both paste downs. A little spotting to endpapers and first and last few leaves else neat. clean and tight internally. No dust wrapper on this one.

The Oxford Illustrated Dickens (known as the New Oxford Illustrated Dickens prior to 1966) is a comprehensively illustrated complete set of Dickens’ work. Each volume includes up to seventy-six early engravings, many of which appeared in the first editions of these works. The text is derived from the Charles Dickens Edition, revised by the author in the 1860s.
