First edition, second printing. 122pp, with line drawings by Edward Ardizzone on almost every page. In blue cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on spine. 12mo. Boards a little rounded on corners and spine ends, with hint of fading on edges. Top text block edge spotted. There is a small rust mark on the edge of the half title page with affects the subsequent page slightly, else internally neat, clean, tight and bright. In its original illustrated dust jacket, with some minor chips at edges, rubbed around spine and small nick on front spine joint. Leading illustrator Edward Ardizzone recounts his own brief adventures as an official war artist with the BEF in France, but the book is far more remarkable for his many drawings.
