168pp. In full dark brown leather binding with gilt rules on front and rear boards, and gilt decorations on a six compartment spine, with gilt titles on red leather label. (Boards a little rubbed on edges, rubbed and rounded on corners, a little chipped around spine). Text block edges darkened. Traces of erased pencil marks on front endpapers, pages toned at edges, and some, light occasional spotting. The odd page has some minor edge wear or turned in corners. Archbishop Leighton’s (died 1684) discourse on the meaning and importance of the Lord’s prayer, first published in 1701. Uncommon – and more often found bound with others of Leighton’s works. Leighton, upon his death, bequeath his 1400 book collection to Dunblane Cathedral, and hundreds of pounds, to establish the Leighton Library in Dunblane, Scotland’s oldest purpose built library. A neat and pretty little volume. 34mo.
