A Ship of the Line

First UK edition, the preferred edition, first impression.  Published a month earlier in the US; precedes the combined edition of Flying Colours, including A Ship of the Line.  304, [2]pp.  Blue cloth binding with silver lettering on spine.  8vo.  Slight forward lean.  Cloth rubbed all round edges and unevenly faded, heavily so in margins and over spine, bruised at spine ends and stain spot at head of spine.  Upper text block edge toned, fore edge heavily foxed.  Previous owner’s name neatly inked on the front paste down.  Some mild rusting on endpapers else internally neat and clean.

A very hard to find first edition copy of the second instalment of C S Forester’s acclaimed Hornblower series suitable for reading and restoration or to fill a gap in a collection until a better copy can be sourced and afforded.
