The first leaf has a is creased along the long edge, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Battley was a life-long printer, working out of Clapham in South London; he was also a conscientious objector during the First World War and, latterly, and MP. His views on the art of printing were tempered by his experiences – both beautiful and practical.
