First edition, first impression.  192pp, profusely illustrated.  Brown cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering to spine.  Grey endpapers.  4to.  Cloth very slightly bruised at spine tips; upper text block edge with traces of dustiness.  Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original dust wrapper, not price clipped, a little bumped on edges and slightly blown (because a previous owner has used the inner front flap of the dust wrapper to hold their place in the book).

An analytical, and beautifully produced, examination of the drawings held in the British Royal Collection, with chapters on the Italian Renaissance, the Northern Renaissance, the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and the up to the late 20th century, together with a useful appendix on watermarks.
