First edition, first impression.  80pp, richly illustrated in colour.  Glossy, illustrated stiff card covers.  8vo. A little gentle edge wear to card covers else volume is neat, clean, bright and tight throughout.

Walter Sickert was a leading figure in painting and the graphic arts from the 1880s to his death in 1942,  Vivid, suggestive, enigmatic, his work varies strikingly from impressionism to realism, from gritty urban to bucolic rural.  Sickert was also a proposed suspect for the Jack the Ripper killings in the East End of London – and he did indeed have a deep obsession with the murders – but the theory has been largely discredited.
