Winston Churchill’s War Speeches, Volumes I-VI (Into Battle; The Unrelenting Struggle; The End of the Beginning; Onwards to Victory; The Dawn of Liberation; Victory) (Six Volumes)

Complete war time series in six volumes of Winston Churchill’s war time speeches, published annually during the war (Cassell also produced a volume of ‘secret session speeches’ some months after the war ended which is often considered a seventh volume in the series but did not match the first six volumes in binding or presentation).  The first three volumes are all later printings, dating from 1943; volumes IV, V and VI as from 1944, 1945 and 1946 respectively and are all first edition, first printings.  All volumes bound in various shades of blue cloth with gilt lettering on the spine.  Each with a monochrome plate frontispiece; volume three has a few further monochrome plate illustrations.  8vos.  Cloth on all volumes is gently rubbed and rounded on extreme corners and spine tips.  Upper text block edges dust darkened, all remaining edges spotted.  Some faint and occasional spotting and foxing on first and last few leaves of each volume; volume numbers written in manuscript on the title page else internally neat. clean and tight.  All volumes in original worn and rubbed dust wrappers, some quite heavy chipping and nicking at edges and on folds and on lightly sunned spines and some partial and uneven fading.  The dust wrapper on volume four has a long closed tear across the upper panel.  None of the jackets have been price clipped and all now protected in an archival quality Mylar wrapper, fitted without the use of tape or adhesives.
