Bedales is a public school in the village of Steep, near Petersfield, Hampshire. Founded in 1893 by Amy Garrett Badley and John Haden Badley  – its first headmaster – in reaction to the limitations of conventional Victorian schools. Notable former pupils include John Wyndham, ballet dancer Sir Peter Wright, Gyles Brandreth, Daniel Day-Lewis, David Armstrong-Jones, Lady Sarah Chatto, Minnie Driver, Lilly Allen and biochemist Robin Hill.
