Fred Sibbey (born 1915) spent lived his entire life in an around the Kent village of Hawkenbury, (near Tunbrdige Wells) as had generations of his family beforehand – when areas such as Tutty’s Village and Pollards Row were still distinct. This slim booklet contains his recollections of the village and villagers through the decades, as well as following his family’s history in the village: his great grandfather, William Brooker, ran one of the village’s two grocery shops in the early part of the 19th century. With black and white illustrations, including some photographs of village life and scenes from the very early days of the 20th century. A touching and revealing reminiscence.
