First edition, fourth impression.  372pp, illustrated with samples of musical scores.  Red cloth-covered boards with gilded motif on upper panel and gilt lettering on black relief on  the spine.  Upper text edge sprayed green. Pale blue endpapers.  8vo.  Cloth slightly rubbed and rounded at corners and spine ends.  Slight wobble to upper panel.  Hint of shadowing to text block edges and endpapers else internally neat, clean, bright and tight.  In its original illustrated, glossy dust wrapper, price clipped, rubbed and chipped on edges with minor loss at spine ends and slight shelf wear.
