[1929].  Unpaginated but circa 80pp, with one illustration (of the interior of St Clement Danes church).  Brown cloth-covered boards with black lettering on front panel.  12mo.  Cloth is a little worn, gently rubbed and rounded at corners and spine ends, a little sunned over spine.  A little spotting on endpapers, and ‘3d’ written at the top of the title page, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight.

A collection of 62 hymns, with words and music, written for use in St Clement Danes church (one of the two ‘island churches on the Strand, London) by husband and wife team of William and Louie Pennington-Bickford.  Louie Pennington-Bickford was the daughter of J J H Septimus Pennington, the Rector of St Clement Danes in the early part of the 20th Century.  On his death, her husband William became Rector.  The church was bombed during the Blitz, in May 1941 and William died five weeks later, it is said because of the heart-ache and trauma of the bombing.  Unable to live without him, Louie jumped to her death from an attic window in September 1941.
