First edition, first impression.  96pp.  Green cloth-covered boards with red lettering to spine.  12mo.  Cloth is a little faded around edges and spine, gently rubbed and rounded at corners and spine ends.  Internally neat, clean, bright and tight.  In its original dust wrapper, toned, shelf worn and price clipped, gently rubbed on edges with a few tiny chips.

Part auto-biography and part sermon, the historian and Labour Party politician Godfrey Elton (1892-1973), the first Baron Elton, reflects on vividly remembered childhood mysteries and seeks their meaning in the writings of Wordsworth, some of the mystic poets of the seventeen century and, ultimately in the New Testament.
