Burgundy cloth-covered boards with blind stamped decorations on panels and gilt lettering on the spine Black endpapers. 8vo. Cloth a little faded and rmoderately ubbed at edges, slightly sunned, spine ends rubbed. Text block edges lightly toned. Some minor scarring on front paste down, some very mild toning in page margins and a few signs of handling.

Based on a series of lectures on the physics of heat which Tyndall delivered at the Royal Institution in the 1860s, this edition contains much additional material including new chapters on electrical heat and sections on the treatment of chemical and physiological heat.
