viii, 88pp plus eight black and white plate illustrations. In paper-covered boards with linen back strip. 8vo. Boards are a little worn and discoloured, gently rubbed and soiled at corners and spine ends. Previous owner’s name on front free endpaper, endpapers very lightly spotted. A little toning and a few mild signs of fingering. One plate loose. A short leaflet, A Welcome to Wortley Ironworks, by the Sheffield Trades Historical Association, dated 1961, folded and loosely laid in. The leaflet is a little damaged at edges. Wortley Ironworks, including Wortley Top Forge, just outside Barnsley in Yorkshire, is thought to be the oldest ironworks in Yorkshire, with evidence of iron working on the site as early as the fourteenth century.
