Not dated but circa 1945 (each of the ‘lessons’ is copyrighted 1942). Unpaginated – circa 100pp. Small stapled booklet in printed card wrappers with pink title label on front (worn, loosening, rubbed at edges, creased, small portions of back strip absent, previous owner’s note on front). Some oxidisation around staples. Internally clean and neat, barring a previous owner’s name on the title page, some signs of fingering and the occasional neat annotation in page margins. A fascinating snapshot into the dietary advice provided by a Naturopath and Osteopath for eating to combat disease and for healthy living, organised as a series of lessons in dietetics. Ovaltine appears as a recommended menu option quite regularly for some diets, but the volume also features Meat Exclusive Diets, The Milk Diet and sections on biochemistry, fasting etc. The effects of various foodstuff on health are described in detail.
