Not dated but published c. 1940. 188pp plus publisher’s catalogue at rear. Colour plate frontispiece. In green cloth-covered boards (a little rubbed and rounded at corners and spine tips). Internally some occasional, faint foxing on prelims. Previous name and address on front free endpaper, opposite a decorative, gilded prize presentation plate on front paste down, indicating that the volume was awarded to one Gracie Lord by the Victoria Hall Sunday School. Slightly loose. Ethel Channon wrote numerous books for both children and adults in the early part of the 20th century, including a number of ‘school stories’. She is, perhaps, most well known for The Honour of the House, which was published in 1931, but she wrote another dozen or so stories for girls between 1924 and 1937.
