Henry Seebohn (1832-95) was a Sheffield steel manufacturer: his success as a businessman enabled him to indulge his passion for travel and ornithology and he travelled extensively through Europe and Asia observing and recording birds and their habits, becoming an ornithologist of repute.- he was the first to find, in his travels through Siberia, the breeding grounds of various species including Berwick’s Swan, the Grey Plover and the Little Stint. He wrote a number of definitive texts on birds, as well as many scientific papers, but his most progressive and enduring were Siberia in Europe (1882) and Siberia in Asia (1884). These two were published together as a single volume in 1901 with the title Birds of Siberia. The volume offered here is a reissue of that 1901 publication.
