Actress Ellen Terry, and her stage partner Henry Irving, fell in love with Smallhythe Place, between Rye and Tenterden, as they were touring the area in the 1890s. in 1899, when the house came up for sale, Ellen Terry bought it, and it was here she died in July 1928. This booklet gives an account of her time at Smallhythe Place and the impact she had on the house, as well as reviewing her acting career and examining the stage partnerships she had with Henry Irving, Edward Godwin etc.
