First thus (with these illustrations and replies to letters). 184pp, line drawings in text. Green cloth-covered boards, gilt titles on spine. Cream-coloured endpapers. 8vo. Very slightly indented at spine tips else volume is neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original illustrated dust wrapper, not price clipped, very slightly sunned on spine, with a sticky label on the rear panel. Dust wrapper now protected in an archival-quality Mylar sleeve, fitted without the use of tape or adhesives.

Anne Scott-James is one of the most eminent gardening writers: her Sissinghurst: The Making of a Garden is considered a classic of the genre. Collected her are her gardening letters to her daughter Clare Hastings, with some replies from Clare now included.
